Find your rhythm on the water

A friendly, competitive rowing club on the River Wear, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to seasoned racers.

Welcome

A club built on the river, for everyone who loves it

Riverside Rowing Club has been part of the Durham rowing community, training crews of every level along the River Wear. Whether you're stepping into a boat for the first time or chasing your next personal best, you'll find a squad and a coach ready to help.

We row in eights, fours and singles, on a stretch of river known for its calm water and its famous regatta. New members are welcome year round — no experience necessary.

Where we row

Our boathouse on the River Wear

Our boathouse sits right on the riverbank, a short walk from Durham city centre, with direct access to the water and racks for every boat in the fleet.

All sessions launch straight from the boathouse — arrive fifteen minutes early to rig boats and get changed.
